Hesketh happy to contribute to victory

Midfielder looking to build on early performances...

20 February 2019

The shine was taken off Jake Hesketh’s first goal for MK Dons as it came in defeat to Swindon Town. However, the 22-year-old’s right-footed strike against Carlisle United helped the Dons record back-to-back away wins at Brunton Park.

Hesketh has impressed since arriving at Stadium MK, with the Southampton loanee scoring in each of his starts.

Both of Hesketh’s goals have been spectacular strikes, with his goal in Cumbria sending the 300+ travelling support into rapturous applause.

“It’s not as nice when you score and don’t get three points,” Hesketh told iFollow MK Dons following the victory. "To get three points, and score away from home, felt really good.

“I’ve scored two good goals -  that’s what I want to do is add goals. Maybe a tap in would be nice but they all count. I’m delighted to contribute to the win with my goal.”

He added: “I think they were the better team in the first half an hour, and we grabbed one against the run of play.

“Once you get that goal, you want to keep a clean sheet, unfortunately, we weren’t able to do that, but we came out the second half flying and got the win.”

Hesketh also reserved special praise for the MK Dons fans that made the journey to Brunton Park, and stated he was delighted to send them home with a smile on their face.

“Fair play to the fans for coming all this way," he said.

“It’s a long journey for them so to be able to send them home with three points and happy is what we set out to do – we always appreciate their support.”
