Cisse: We're starting to play League Two football

Malian midfielder is hoping MK Dons can continue their good form this afternoon...

Ousseynou Cisse believes MK Dons are beginning to adapt to ‘Sky Bet League Two football’, as demonstrated by their last two results.

The Dons secured back-to-back victories last week away at Newport County and Carlisle United, in two hard-fought matches against strong League Two opposition.

They will look to extend that run to three straight wins when they take on Newport, again, this afternoon at Stadium MK.

“Teams are very different” Cisse said in his pre-match press conference ahead of today’s clash.

“The last three months, we have tried too hard to play football, but in League Two, you have to be strong first of all, win your headers and tackles, and then play football - not try to play football and then look to be strong.

“I was talking to Tis because I like to play football, I like to get on the ball, but League Two is not like that.

“How we played at Newport is how we have to start every game. We looked so much stronger as a team. We have to start every game like that, and then the football will come after that.

“We have changed our mind to be strong first of all, and then play. That's why I think we’re doing well at the moment.”

MK Dons return home this afternoon for the first of two successive home matches in Sky Bet League Two. Cisse & Co have enjoyed a lot of success in front of their home fans this campaign and the Malian hopes to continue treating them to victories.

“I have to say a lot of thanks to the fans because they are always behind me and the team,” he said.

“We need them, and to be fair in the last two months, we've not had great results but they're still behind us and it is great for us to keep the team fighting for League One.”
