Russ provides update on sidelined duo

The Dons boss speaks on status of Jordan Moore-Taylor and Rhys Healey...

Russell Martin provided updates on the two players who missed the 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers through injury.

Jordan Moore-Taylor was forced off during the warm-up last weekend at the Keepmoat Stadium while Rhys Healey remains sidelined due to the thigh problem he sustained prior to the 3-0 win over Blackpool back in September.

“Jordan is having checks on his knee this week,” Martin said in his pre-match press conference, ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One encounter with Oxford United at Stadium MK.

“He felt his knee in the warm-up. He hadn’t felt it since his operation until Saturday. He says he’s feeling okay so hopefully it's just a little irritation rather than something major. We'll make sure we investigate it properly, though.”

On Healey, Martin said: “He's getting fitter. He has a lot to catch up on but he's getting there slowly.

“We’ll need to get him some minutes soon. We've got a few reserve games coming up which will probably be used for that.

“We're having to take more time than we did with Sam because it's a different injury, but once we get him back, he'll be a big boost for us.”

Martin also confirmed that Nombe made it through his hour in Tuesday’s Central League Cup clash with Cambridge United unscathed, as the young striker continues to edge closer to full fitness.

“It was good to see him back,” the Dons boss said. “He looked rusty but we cannot expect too much from him too soon.

“He needs to train for a good few weeks now and get him into a position where he can start games. You can't question his work-rate and his physicality, though.”
