MK Dons are pleased to announce that midfielder David Kasumu has signed a new deal with the Football Club.
Kasumu’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the season but the midfielder has today [Wednesday] put pen-to-paper and extended his future at Stadium MK.
“I’m delighted,” Kasumu said in an exclusive interview with iFollow MK Dons.
“This is my home. I was brought up in MK and I’ve been at the Club since a young age too. To sign a second deal here, I’m just so pleased and thankful to the staff and everyone who has helped me.
“I’ve enjoyed this season. Getting game time and scoring my first professional goal, which was a dream come true. I’m really happy at the moment and I’m looking forward to the future.”
The Academy product, who joined the Club at the age of 13, has enjoyed a breakout 2019/20 campaign, having featured 18 times for the first-team already this term – taking his total number of senior appearances to 24 ever since his debut in August 2016.
He scored his first professional goal in the Carabao Cup win over AFC Wimbledon – a strike which was voted as MK Dons’ Goal of the Month for August by supporters. He also netted in the 3-0 win away at Blackpool in September – his first league goal for the Club.
Manager Russell Martin said of his midfielder: “He deserves this new contract and I’m really pleased that he’s signed.
“He’s been excellent this season, and since I’ve taken over he’s been brilliant in terms of his application and his improvement.
“He’s a local lad and what we all want to see is players coming through the Academy and doing well in the first team.
“He’s improving all the time. He’s got huge potential and if we can polish off certain areas of his game, then we’ve got a real player on our hands.”
