Russell Martin says his MK Dons players and staff are “all-in” on their style of football, with the hope that it will provide entertainment for supporters as well as lift MK Dons up the Sky Bet League One table.
Martin was asked about his team’s commitment to playing out from the back in the aftermath of Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Coventry City, and the Dons boss insisted that it’s a style the whole club is right behind.
“I’m all-in on the way that we’re playing,” he commented. “We’ve agreed, as a group of staff and players, that this is the way we want to play.
“With the quality of players we’ve got, I believe we can play this way. We’ve shown that we can in glimpses and now it’s about working towards putting it together for 90 minutes. That will come.
“We want to feel good about ourselves. We want to feel like we did in the first half against Rotherham United and after winning tonight. It’s the style of football we’ve become known for and it’s the style, we believe, will take us up the league.
“Hopefully the fans will see that pay off. Sometimes, there will be moments where you have to hold your breath and there will be times where it doesn’t quite come off, but I hope the fans will get behind it, as I think they’ll enjoy it more often than not.”
