David delighted to represent hometown Club

20 December 2019

At just 20 years of age David Kasumu has racked up just under 25 first team appearances for MK Dons and says representing the city of Milton Keynes is a special feeling.

Kasumu joined the Club aged 13 and progressed through the ranks before making his debut against Newport County in 2016.

Since then, Kasumu has been in and around the first team before enjoying a breakout 2019/20 campaign. So far this season Kasumu has scored his first professional goal and played against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, while also becoming a regular in the matchday squad.

“Having been raised in Milton Keynes, this is my home, to get a new deal done is a special feeling,” Kasumu told iFollow MK Dons shortly after penning his deal. “Now, I want to keep improving and keep getting better. I want to help the team to get wins because that’s all that matters right now.

“It’s a good vibe in the changing room and I think we all know we’ve stepped it up a notch. We’ve all seen and bought into what Russ is trying to do here and we’re all behind him – it’s now a matter of picking up results.”

Reflecting on his goal against AFC Wimbledon, Kasumu noted a feeling of surrealism and thanked he Dons faithful for their continued support during his career.

“I still remember my first professional goal, it was like a dream come true. It was great timing and I thank the fans for singing my name after I scored – they’ve always been behind me.

“The fans have been behind me from the start. They always sing my name and cheer me on and that means a lot to me – I’d like to thank them.”
