Bowds returns to MK Dons in Ambassador role

Club legend is back at Stadium MK...

19 December 2019

Dean Bowditch has returned to MK Dons in a Community Ambassador role with the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET).

Bowditch scored 48 goals in 227 games for MK Dons between 2011 and 2017. He is the Club’s sixth-highest appearance maker and currently sits third in the Club’s all-time top goalscorer list.

In his new role at Stadium MK, Bowditch will be promoting MK Dons SET and the Friends of the Trust sponsorship scheme in and around Milton Keynes, as well as lending his experience through coaching with the SET and the Academy.

“It is a privilege to be back in this role,” Bowditch said in an exclusive interview with iFollow MK Dons.

“I knew about the SET when I was here as a player. The work they do for the Milton Keynes community is incredible so I’m very pleased to be a part of that.

“As a player, I used to embrace being out in the community on visits, so to be given this opportunity on a full-time basis just feels right.

“I had the best time of my playing career here at MK Dons. I had a great rapport with the fans, the staff and the board, and the Club supported me through a lot.

“MK Dons and Milton Keynes has meant a lot to me and my family so to be able to give back to the community, and to the Club, is great.”

Maralyn Smith, Chief Executive of MK Dons SET, told mkdons.com: “I am delighted to have Dean join the MK Dons SET.

“Dean has always been a keen ambassador the work we do in the community and having him join the team, promoting the work of the SET and supporting our coaching teams, is a tremendous boost to the work of the charity.

“His arrival will certainly help to raise the profile of the SET and enhance our coaching offer to young players across the Milton Keynes area.”

Dean Bowditch and MK Dons SET will be hosting a Friends of the Trust meeting at Stadium MK in January. The evening will offer the opportunity to meet Friends of the Trust members and learn how you can help out with the SET projects and ventures.
