mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash with Peterborough United at Stadium MK...

Three in a row
MK Dons will be looking to secure their third successive home victory when they welcome Peterborough United to Stadium MK this weekend.

Paul Tisdale’s men kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win at home to Shrewsbury Town and backed that up with a 2-1 victory over Lincoln City in midweek.

The Dons have spoken often about making Stadium MK a fortress and what better way to start than by winning your first three home matches. If they do so, it will be the first time they have triumphed in their first three home games of a season since the 2012/13 campaign.

Reunited with Posh
Saturday will be the 26th meeting between MK Dons and Peterborough United in all competitions and their first league duel since December 2017.

That winter afternoon at Stadium MK, the Dons came out on top 1-0 despite having to play the final 55 minutes with nine men. That was just one a number of memorable encounters with Posh over the years.

Others that spring to mind that have ended in the Dons’ favour include the dominant 4-0 triumph at London Road in January 2017, the 3-0 success en-route to promotion in February 2015 and a win by the same scoreline in the final weeks of the 2004/05 season, which helped the Dons secure safety in League One.

Will Saturday’s match be another Dons/Posh classic?

Darren’s side buoyant after first win
Peterborough United will arrive in Milton Keynes in a buoyant mood after securing their first league win of the campaign in midweek.

Darren Ferguson’s men appear to have found their groove after a slow start, backing up a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town with that 2-0 win away at Southend United on Tuesday evening.

Strikers Mo Eisa and Ivan Toney grabbed all four goals for Peterborough over the last two games and it will be up to the Dons’ defence to keep the in-form duo quiet at the weekend.

Gleaning goals all over the pitch
It’s not often that two wing-backs get on the scoresheet in the same game but that’s what happened on Tuesday as Callum Brittain and George Williams fired MK Dons to success over Lincoln City.

It means that, of the seven goals scored by the Dons this term, two have been converted by strikers, three by midfielders and two by defenders - which is exactly what Tisdale wants to see from his team in 2019/20.

He told the media after Tuesday’s game: “We are trying to develop the team and a part of that is that we have to glean goals from all over the field”

Food for thought for Tis
Boss Paul Tisdale made two changes to his starting XI on Tuesday and both additions impressed.

Callum Brittain was voted by supporters as their Man of the Match after grabbing the opening goal while Ryan Harley, who had a part to play in the opener, was composed and assured in the centre of the park.

It provides Tisdale with some food for thought ahead of this weekend’s match, with the likes of Dean Lewington and Conor McGrandles waiting in the wings if the manager wants to revert back. Alex Gilbey and Rhys Healey are also pushing for starts as they work their way back to fitness.

That’s not to mention the recent absentees although it remains to be seen whether any of them can return in time to feature against Posh.
