Points more important than personal pride for Bowery

19 August 2019

Jordan Bowery scored his first goal in an MK Dons shirt on Saturday afternoon, however, the striker admits he’d have preferred to have taken points away from Adams Park.

Bowery was on hand to convert Baily Cargill’s cross to draw the Dons level after Joe Jacobson had put The Chairboys ahead.

Fred Onyedinma then restored the home sides advantage, before Jordan Houghton equalised shortly after half-time.

The clash was decided in the final minutes as David Wheeler’s effort secured the three points for Gareth Ainsworth’s side.

Bowery noted that while he’s happy to get off the mark for his new Club, the overriding emotion is one of disappointment.

“I got the goal, but that’s not the main thing,” Bowery told the local media following the defeat. “The main thing are the points, it’s disappointing but we’ve got a game on Tuesday to put things right.

“The points are the main thing in football. As long as I can work hard and contribute with goals or assists to help us get the three points – that is the main objective.

“I think I’ve done reasonably well, I’d have liked to have got off the mark quicker but we are only three games in and hopefully I can get more goals.

“If I’m not scoring, I’ll always give 110% no matter what, if I’m having a bad game I will always give 110% for myself, this team and the fans.”

MK Dons were backed by 1,130 travelling fans, with Bowery commenting on just how impressive their following was.

“The fans were great and we appreciate that. it would’ve been nice to get the three points, if not a point, for them.”
