Paul Tisdale provided a positive update on his MK Dons side when speaking to the press ahead of Saturday’s season opener.
The Dons begin their 2019/20 campaign this weekend when they welcome Shrewsbury Town to Stadium MK.
Speaking to the media, Tisdale revealed that the majority of his squad is in contention to feature in the opener, with defender Jordan Moore-Taylor the only player ruled out for definite.
“They're all pretty close to being available for selection,” Tisdale said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday. “The extra week, in that respect, has helped.
“Jordan Moore-Taylor is back on grass but is not close to being fit yet, but the others are close and in contention.”
The Dons were forced to wait an extra week to begin their season due to the EFL’s decision to suspend the fixture with Bury due to the Shakers’ off-the-field issues.
Tisdale, though, is looking at the positives - the main positive being that his team have the opportunity to open their campaign at Stadium MK.
“We feel a little overcooked waiting for the game but we're well versed in reacting to something at short notice,” he said.
“We will have to look at it with hindsight – if we have a good August, it will have helped us, if we don't, we'll say it hindered us.
“To be now playing our first game is no problem. We like that it's at home, which is nice. The players are certainly ready to go, and we're looking to get a win but we're taking nothing for granted.”
