Paul Tisdale’s MK Dons squad were put through their paces on Saturday morning in a competitive in-house training match.

MK Dons were due to begin their Sky Bet League One campaign away at Bury on Saturday but the EFL took the decision earlier this week to suspend the match, meaning they won't begin their 2019/20 season until 10 August.

The training game, which took place at Woughton on the Green, provided the majority of the squad with an opportunity to get 90 minutes under the belts, with 23 players in total featuring in a highly entertaining and competitive match.

One of those who played the full match was defender Baily Cargill as he continues his recovery from a foot injury which cut short his 2018/19 season.

All-but Alex Gilbey, Rhys Healey, Brennan Dickenson and Jordan Moore-Taylor took part - positively, though, Gilbey and Healey were both out on the grass working with Head of Sports Science and Medicine Simon Crampton and Head Fitness and Conditioning Coach Matt Willmott.

There were eight goals in total, with recent acquisition Ben Reeves opening the scoring via a deflected effort. Sam Nombe and Callum Brittain were also on target in the first half while the second period saw Regan Poole, Kieran Agard, Joe Mason, Joe Walsh and Hiram Boateng each find the net.

Next up for the Dons - Shrewsbury Town at Stadium MK in their 2019/20 opener.
