As well as his seeing his side pick up three points at Meadow Lane, MK Dons boss Paul Tisdale had three other reasons to smile on Good Friday.
Tisdale’s men moved back into the automatic-promotion places in Sky Bet League Two courtesy of their 2-1 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane. They are now a point clear of fourth-placed Bury with three games left to play.
While delighted with the victory, Tisdale was also pleased with three individuals in his squad - two for making their returns from injury and one for overcoming a difficult week off the pitch to net the match-winning goal.
“Having both [George Williams] and Robbie Simpson back on the bench was great,” the Dons manager said. “They’re leaders in the squad and it brought a lot to the dressing room.
“We weren't even considering [Williams] being a part of anything until this week. He's only had a two weeks of half-training but we discussed him coming on late in a game, with 15 minutes to go. It was a heck of a boost.”
Tisdale continued: “I’m also delighted for [Chuks Aneke]. That's a really great turn of events for him.
“It has been a difficult week but he has dealt with it so maturely. To his credit, he has taken the steam out of it by being so mature, so it felt like just another game. None of us really spoke about it before the game.
“He has a really good goal to cap a professional week.”
Paul Tisdale's MK Dons return to action on Easter Monday when they take on Port Vale at Stadium MK in their penultimate home fixture of the season.
