Tisdale: We have to go again

MK Dons manager reflects on his side's 1-1 draw with Port Vale...

23 April 2019

Paul Tisdale insists MK Dons can’t afford to feel sorry for themselves after the 1-1 draw with Port Vale, and must quickly switch their focus to their crucial clash with Colchester United this weekend.

The Dons were held by the Valiants in their meeting on Easter Monday - a result which saw Tisdale's side slip out of the Sky Bet League Two automatic-promotion places on goal difference.

Their fate, though, remains firmly in their own hands as two wins from their final two matches would be enough to secure an immediate return to Sky Bet League One. Tisdale, therefore, wants his players to pick themselves up and go again in Essex.

“We just have to go again,” the MK Dons boss said in his post-match press conference. “There are two games to go and we have to - want to - win them both.

“We weren't expecting anyone to hand it to us – nothing is easy. We've got a real challenge ahead of us.

“It will be really tight, exciting and anxious last two weeks and it will continue to twist and turn. We have to relish it.

“We have to take it one game at a time, and attack that game at Colchester United on Saturday in the right way. It’s on to the next.”

On Monday’s performance against Port Vale, Tisdale commented: “I'm not going to try and find too many negatives because whatever we say about the performance, we still had our chances.

“We missed our chances and I'm disappointed with the goal we conceded just after half time. We made a lacklustre start to the second half. We cannot afford for that to happen again.

“I was hoping for a real push at the end but it petered away. We've now just got to look to the next game.”
