Tis: Three important points up for grabs

MK Dons boss looks ahead to this weekend's top-of-the-table clash...

Paul Tisdale acknowledges that there are three very important points up for grabs on Saturday.

Tisdale’s MK Dons, currently second in the Sky Bet League Two, welcome table-toppers Lincoln City to Stadium MK this weekend, knowing a victory over the Imps would see them close the gap on first place to five points, with five to play.

“There are three points at stake and we both want those points desperately,” Tisdale said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash. “We know how important it is.

“We’re really looking forward to it. It’s a big game, it will be a very good challenge and it will be very exciting.

“There is so much at stake so there is a mix of excitement and butterflies.”

Lincoln were the first side to beat the Dons in the league this season, coming out on top 2-1 at Sincil Bank back in September. Tisdale reflected on that defeat in his pre-match press conference.

“We should have done better,” he recalled. “At the time, we were on a good run of games undefeated.

“I will always look back on games where we should have focussed more, been more vigilant or had more attention to detail - that was one of them.

“It was a long time ago, though, and I think we're a different team now. Both teams will be doing their homework and we have looked at that game, but there is a lot more areas we're looking at too.”

Tis also wouldn’t be drawn on whether a victory on Saturday would pull his side back into a title race, saying: “We have to beat them, first. You can't help but do the maths but you can't get carried away. Lincoln will be doing the same maths as us.”
