mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two encounter with Lincoln City at Stadium MK...

Second versus first
Stadium MK will play host to arguable the standout fixture in the EFL on Saturday, as second and first in Sky Bet League Two go head-to-head.

Lincoln City are closing in on promotion and three points would put them well on course to achieve a return to the third tier for the first time since 1999.

A victory would also be extremely welcome to the Dons, who could move as much as six points clear in the automatic promotion places should results go in their favour elsewhere too.

Dons still in a title race?
Not only could a win this weekend boost the Dons’ promotion ambitions but it may also drag them back into a title race.

Should Paul Tisdale’s men find a way past the Imps then they will close the gap on top spot to five points with five games left to play.

They, of course, would still have work to do to reduce that difference further but it should make for an interesting end to the season, can they get back to within touching distance of first place.

Bumper crowd expected
Stadium MK is set to play host to its largest league crowd of the season this weekend, which should help to create an atmosphere befitting a top-of-the-table clash.

Visitors Lincoln City are travelling in their numbers while tickets have also been selling extremely well in home areas of the ground.

The highest total this season stands at 9,618 for the visit of Northampton Town back in October. Saturday’s number should surpass that total and could even surpass last season’s high of 14,762 for the Sky Bet League One encounter with Portsmouth.

Duo chasing centuries
Two MK Dons players are on the verge of achieving a 100-milestone heading into Saturday’s game.

Lee Nicholls is just one appearance away from totalling 100 games for MK Dons. The goalkeeper made his debut in an EFL Cup tie away at Newport County back in August 2016 and is one of the longest-tenured Dons currently at the Club.

Another long-serving Dons is Kieran Agard, who needs to find the net once more to make it 100 career goals. The striker has scored 21 times and will have ambitions of reaching a century of goals at the weekend.

Injury watch
Paul Tisdale will, no doubt, hope to be boosted by a return to action from any of his injured players.

Alex Gilbey, Baily Cargill, Jordan Moore-Taylor and George Williams are among those who are currently sidelined and it remains to be seen whether any of the quartet can return in time for this weekend’s match.

Boss Tisdale should provide an injury update when he meets with the media on Thursday afternoon. His press conference will be available to view in full on mkdons.com from 2pm.
