Report: Cheltenham Town 0-3 Under-18s

Young Dons return to the top of the table...

9 April 2019

MK Dons Under-18s returned to the top of the EFL Youth Alliance Merit League 2 table courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham Town.

Goals from Jack Davies, Matthew Sorinola and Recoe Martin sealed the win in Gloucestershire which has lifted Edu Rubio’s side above Forest Green Rovers and back to the summit of the table.

Davies opened the scoring 17 minutes in, breaking forward from midfield and racing onto Jenson Wright’s through pass before cooly sending a left-footed shot past the Robins goalkeeper.

It took until the 88th minute for the Dons to extend their lead through Sorinola, who played a one-two with Martin before striding away from a challenge and firing a shot across goal into the bottom corner of the net.

Martin went from provider to goalscorer in the fourth minute of stoppage time, sealing the victory with a simple finish from James Holmes’ cross.

Next up for the Under-18s is a home fixture with third-placed Plymouth Argyle this Saturday at 2pm.

Starting XI: Jones; Leach, Sule, Brennan; Robinson (Rowley 71), Ackom, Davies, Wright, Sorinola; Martin, Deal (Holmes 71).
