Williams: I can’t wait to get out there and play

George Williams can’t wait to get playing again after the international break…

15 September 2018

By the time MK Dons take to the field against Forest Green Rovers, today it’ll be two weeks since their last Sky Bet League Two outing.

The postponed clash with Yeovil Town due to the Glovers international call-ups has enabled Paul Tisdale’s side to earn some well-deserved rest after a busy start to the season.

The Dons started the season with nine games in just over four weeks and were finally able to rest their bodies last weekend – a break Williams says has refreshed the squad.

“We obviously had last weekend off because of the international call-ups at Yeovil but we all feel refreshed and ready to go.

“I think with the manager you can see with every match that goes by his ideas are getting across to us – we are building his style of play.

“I’m sure in the coming weeks we will get to where we want to be and a few games down the line we will be hitting our peak.”

Williams also praised the togetherness and unity within the Dons dressing room – a sentiment echoed by Paul Tisdale in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s a really good camp at the minute, the boys are all happy and we’re really enjoying life under the new management team. There is a really good vibe around the place and personally, I’m enjoying it – I can’t wait to get out there and play.

“I think if we can turn draws into wins, if we score more goals all over the pitch work on in possession more – which we’ve been doing on the training pitch – we will improve, you’ll see that in the coming weeks.”

Saturday’s clash against Mark Cooper’s sides pits two of Sky Bet League Two’s unbeaten sides together, and Williams is certainly expecting another difficult encounter this weekend.

“Forest Green will be a tough outfit, just like every game in this division, there have been no easy games – it’s been a tough start.

“We are all looking forward to it, it’ll be good to be back at Stadium MK and it’ll be good to get playing against after that weekend off.”
