Walsh: We will pick ourselves up

Defender reflects on Saturday’s draw against Swindon Town…

3 September 2018

MK Dons fell to a late draw at The Energy Check County Ground as Elijah Adebayo’s 94th-minute equaliser forced the Dons to settle for a point on Saturday afternoon.

Walsh had initially fired MK Dons in front with his first goal of the season from Dean Lewington’s corner but the Swindon substitutes late goal ensured the points were shared in Wiltshire.

Speaking after the final whistle, Walsh could only describe the late goal as ‘gutting’ but feels there are lessons to be learnt from the clash.

“It's gutting, when they scored so late it felt like a loss. We have to get on with it and go again on Tuesday.

“In the future, we might look back at is as a good point but at the moment it feels like we've lost three points - it's hard to take at the moment though.

“We are going to learn from this last-minute goal, we have to see games out and score another goal when we're on top.”

Despite coming away from Swindon disappointed, there are still positives to take, such as the fact the Dons still remain unbeaten in the league as they currently sit third in the table behind Lincoln City and Newport County.

Walsh noted there has been a change in the atmosphere this season with the squad wanting to pick up three points in every match they play.

“We're still unbeaten so that's a positive, we're missing a game next week so we might drop down the league because of that.

“Last season, we'd have been happy with a point away - but this season we want to come to every game and want to win.

“We had chances, Jordan Houghton hit the bar – it was a great strike – and we had a few counter attacks but we didn't capitalise. We will pick ourselves up now.”
