Rhys Healey is confident MK Dons will give their supporters better journey’s after Saturday’s defeat at Sincil Bank.
Rhys Healey opened his Sky Bet League Two account for MK Dons on Saturday afternoon – and in the process – sparked pandemonium in the away end.
Unfortunately, his goal didn’t prove to be the winner as goals from Shay McCartan and Jason Shackell won the clash for Lincoln City.
“Every week the fans back us, credit to them for coming to Lincoln,” Healey told iFollow MK Dons.
“It’s a shame we didn’t give the fans what they deserve for travelling all this way. They help us with their backing and I’m sure we will give them more away journeys that will be worth it.
“We will turn it around and they’ll get what they deserve.”
Healey replaced Alex Gilbey with 58-minutes on the clock and after just six minutes slammed past Josh Vickers to open the scoring.
The striker commented while opening his account in the league for the Dons was a good feeling – picking up three points was more important for him.
“It was nice to get my first goal in the league for the Club but it was more important to win. I think we should have come away with the three points but they just edged it - that’s the margins of this league.
“We went toe-to-toe with Lincoln, and they won which was disappointing. It’s early in the season and the good thing is we’ve got a game Tuesday night which means we can put this game behind us.
“I don’t think the boys are too down about it because it’s early days and we can learn from today’s mistake and not let it happen again.”
Healey added, “I’m always looking to score, I want to score goals. It would’ve been better with the three points and it’s disappointing that we didn’t.”
