mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into Saturday’s clash with Northampton Town at Stadium MK...

Four in a row, four in a row
For the first time since 2015, MK Dons have won three league matches in succession and they will be looking to add a fourth to their run on Saturday.

What’s more, they will also be looking to maintain their excellent defensive form and secure a fourth-straight league clean sheet - a feat they haven’t achieved since the 2014/15 campaign.

Paul Tisdale’s men boast the second-best defensive record in the EFL and haven’t been breached in over 320 minutes of football.

Strong start
Paul Tisdale’s side have 24 points to their name from their first 13 matches and should they take that total to 27 at the weekend, they would boast the same amount of points as they did after 14 games in the 2014/15 season.

It would make it the Club’s joint-second-best start to a league campaign behind only the 2007/08 season when they picked up 29 points from their first 14 fixtures.

Perfect October
MK Dons have enjoyed a perfect start to the month in terms of league football, winning all three of their matches without conceding a goal.

While there is still a long way to go in the month, the Club has only twice before recorded a perfect month - in November 2011 and September 2007.

October has notoriously been a difficult month for the Dons who, over the last seven years, haven’t picked up more than eight points in the month. That tally has already been surpassed by Tisdale’s team, who have nine points to their name with three games still to play.

Establishing Stadium MK a fortress
One of Tisdale’s main aims when taking over at MK Dons was to establish Stadium MK as a fortress once again and he and his side are well on their way to doing that.

The Dons are unbeaten in their first eight home matches this season which is their best start to a campaign at home in six years, since the 2011/12 campaign when they went 12 games without a loss in all competitions.

In terms of league fixtures only, they are unbeaten in their first six home matches which is, again, only bettered by that 2011/12 term when they avoided defeat in their first 10 league clashes at Stadium MK.

Can red-hot Chuks keep firing?
Chuks Aneke has made an excellent start to the 2018/19 season and shows no signs of letting up.

The striker has scored seven goals from eight games in all competitions while he has found the net in each of his last four league appearances - he has got on the scoresheet in all-but-one of his league outings this term.

Last season’s top scorer is currently tied for sixth in the Sky Bet League Two goalscoring charts but has the second-best minutes per goal record - one goal every 94 minutes which is just 60 seconds worse off than Sam Surridge’s tally for Oldham Athletic.

Facing a resurgent Cobblers outfit
You only had to look at the celebrations at the end of their victory over Forest Green Rovers to see that positivity and confidence is back at Northampton Town and they will arrive in Milton Keynes as a revitalised unit under Keith Curle.

The Cobblers are undefeated since his arrival earlier this month and they have won their previous two matches in all competitions, including that dramatic 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Forest Green last weekend.

They may sit 19th in the Sky Bet League Two but make no bones about it, Tisdale and MK Dons will be taking their opponents extremely seriously at the wekened.
