mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Crawley Town at The Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Maintaining the Momentum

MK Dons extended their unbeaten run to eight games last Saturday as Mansfield Town held them to a 1-1 draw at The One Call Stadium.

The result leaves the Dons as one of the most in-form sides in the country and top of the form table over the last five games in Sky Bet League Two. However, Crawley Town provides one of the toughest tests of the season with The Checkatrade.com Stadium proving difficult hunting ground for opposition teams.

Facing a tough Crawley Town outfit

Gabriele Cioffi’s side have certainly been entertaining to watch on their own patch – they’ve so far scored 18 goals in front of their own fans – the second most in the division.

The Reds also boast the third-best home record having picked up 17 points from their eight home encounters – in fact, they haven’t lost in their last seven home fixtures.

It’ll certainly be an entertaining clash in West Sussex with both sides pushing for promotion come the end of the season.

Familiar Faces

There will be a couple of reunions come Saturday afternoon as former players of both MK Dons and Crawley Town face off against their former employers.

For the men from MK1, Joe Walsh will be returning the Club that handed him his first professional league start. Walsh spent three years with Crawley Town making over 100 appearances, scoring just one goal.

Flip the coin and you’ll find two former Dons forwards in the shape of Mark Randall and Filipe Morais. The former enjoyed a brief loan spell at Stadium MK in January 2010 before making a permanent move to the Club in March 2014. Randall featured 35 times total for MK Dons scoring just one goal.

Elsewhere, Morais made his professional debut while on loan with MK Dons with the Chelsea loanee coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest – he’d go on to make 13 appearances during his time with the Club.

Start of a testing November

The month of November is shaping up to be another exciting month of football with the Dons facing off against a number of testing outfits. The month starts Saturday with a trip to Crawley before the following weekend Macclesfield Town visit Stadium MK as they look to kick-start their Sky Bet League Two campaign.

Following the clash against The Silkmen, Tisdale and Co travel to Grimsby in the Emirates FA Cup before making the short trip to Stevenage. The month concludes when Morecambe visit MK1 on Tuesday 27th November.

Crawley looking to bounce back

It’s safe to say Crawley Town will be looking to put right the 5-1 defeat that they suffered last time out against Tranmere Rovers.

“Everyone has to ask if they can do better personally for the team.” Head Coach Cioffi told the media following the full-time whistle.

“That is the main lesson going forward but, as I said earlier, we are a work in progress at the moment.

“We also created chances but didn’t play our football or get anywhere near the standards we have and when that happens as you have seen we look an average team.”
