Striker wants more after netting his fourth of the campaign...

Kieran Agard took his tally for the season to four goals with his fine finish in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Port Vale at Vale Park.

In unusual circumstances, Agard found himself floored moments before the goal after being nudged to the ground by a Valiants defender.

However, after failing to hear a whistle, the 28-year-old quickly bounced back to his feet and moved into space before firing a left-footed strike in the bottom corner.

“I felt a push in my back so went down,” Agard said in his post-match interview. “I didn’t hear a whistle so I got back up and quickly turned. I just tried to stay relaxed in the box and then hit the target with my shot.

“Thankfully there was no whistle!”

Both him and Chuks Aneke were on target in the routine away success meaning the pair are now nearing a combined double-figure goal total after just 11 games.

“Both of us got on the scoresheet which is what we want to do as strikers - score goals.

“Credit to the team for creating the chances and if they keep doing that, we’ll keep trying to put them away.

“Hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”

Tuesday’s result saw MK Dons climb back up to sixth in the Sky Bet League Two table and move to within five points of the automatic promotion places.

They return to Stadium MK this weekend looking to secure back-to-back wins against Cheltenham Town - Agard is confident the team can come out on top on Saturday and start to put together a run of victories.

“We’ve been working hard on the training pitch and we knew a result like Tuesday was coming. We were really happy to get the three points and we want to build on that now.

“We want to build some momentum now, going into Saturday.”
