Healey hoping for more after Crawley success

Striker reflects on stand-out showing...

6 November 2018

Rhys Healey believes Saturday’s win over Crawley Town was a result of months of hard work on the training pitch - now the striker and his teammates want more.

Healey netted twice and provided two assists in MK Dons’ dominant 4-0 victory at the Checkatrade.com Stadium - their largest win of the season and arguably their best display under the management of Paul Tisdale.

“The performance sums it up today - we were class with our performance,” Healey told the media after the final whistle.

“We said it was only a matter of time before we beat someone by three, four, five with the chances we create. Looking at the last few games, we've been on top of teams, and we get 18, 19 shots per game so it was only a matter of time.

“Crawley were good in possession, but we had our chances and put them away. Today, we've really come together and all the work on the training ground has paid off.

“We're only going to get better. There's always room for improvement - we need to keep striving for a better next game game and get the results we want. Once we get where we want to be as a team, we'll be even better than we were today.”

Healey’s display, particularly his involvement in all four goals, saw the Cardiff City loanee named in the EFL Team of the Week. The 23-year-old was pleased with his two finishes but was also happy to see his strike partners on the scoresheet too.

“I've been a bit down on one-on-ones lately but, as a striker, you'll always get another chance and it’s important to take it. The second chance came along quickly for me and luckily it went in - I then forgot about the first one!

“I'm happy for Chuks and Kieran too. Every striker was on the score sheet and they took their chances really well. We're working really well together and we're getting an understanding of each other as well.”
