Gilberto excited for Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour

Brazil legend looking forward to England visit...

5 November 2018

With the likes of Neymar, Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Ederson and Richarlison all named in Brazil’s squad for their upcoming clash with Cameroon at Stadium MK – Brazil legend Gilberto is eager to watch the development of the nation over the next four years.

Brazil will play Uruguay at The Emirates Stadium before facing Cameroon at Stadium MK on Tuesday 20th November.

Gilberto tallied up an impressive 93 caps for the Brazilian national team, while he also represented Arsenal over 200 times during a five-year spell with the London Club.

Now, Gilberto is excited for the next generation of Brazilian football – a generation that will visit Stadium MK later this month.

“It’s the new cycle now, I’m looking forward to the new project over the next four years ahead of the next World Cup,” said Gilberto.

“It starts now, selecting the players for this time, to see how everyone’s going to respond to what Tite wants from everyone.

“The important thing for me is that the coach has stayed the same, because we can have a continuation of what he’s doing.”

The Brazil squad for the two encounters contains eight Premier League players – faces that Gilberto believes can play an important part in the development of The Seleção.

“It’s great because we now have more possibility to have Brazilian players in the Premier League.

“They are playing at the highest level of football and for the Brazil team, it’s great because they play against the best players.

“It’s great to see Richarlison doing well in the national team – he’s not scared of playing football.

“I’m sure the experience of playing in the Premier League has helped a lot in this new process with the national team.”

Gilberto concluded, “For him - the experience is always great.”
