mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into today's Sky Bet League One clash with Shrewsbury at the New Meadows...

Final game of the season

After 45 Sky Bet League One games this Saturday will mark MK Dons’ final game of the season. It’s safe to say it hasn’t been the season we had hoped for, however, Saturday’s clash provides the chance to end the season on a high.

Last campaign the Dons ended the season with a 4-1 win away to Walsall, while the year previous season they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Changes to the Dons side?

With the Dons relegation confirmed last Saturday following defeat against Scunthorpe, we could see a rotated squad take to the field this weekend. Sam Nombe was recalled from his loan spell at Oxford last month and could be given his first Sky Bet League One start of the season at Shrewsbury.

Conor McGrandles, Aidan Nesbitt and Robbie Muirhead all featured for the Under-23s in their Cup Final defeat against Chesham United and may be given the nod by Keith Millen.

How will Shrewsbury start?

With both Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers securing promotion in recent weeks, Shrewsbury have been forced to settle for a playoff position following their impressive campaign. With the Shrews guaranteed to finish the season in third place, they may choose to rest and rotate a number of key players ahead of their impending playoff semi-final.

This could play into the hands of the hosts, however, as those coming into the side will want to earn their place in the squad with an impressive performance.
