Abbie Roberts and England suffered a 2-1 defeat against Spain in their second Group Stage game in the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship finals Saturday afternoon.
Their Spanish opposition enjoyed a near perfect start to the clash at the Alytus Stadium after Paula Arana Montes found the net four minutes into the tie.
Ebony Salmon drew the Lionesses level with 26 minutes on the clock, however, 10 minutes from time, Eva Maria Navarro slotted past Fran Stenson to secure all three points for La Roja.
Roberts played the full 80 minutes for England, who now face Italy in their final Group B fixture. If England overcome Italy and Poland fail to win against Spain the Lionesses will progress into the Semi-Finals.
Should Roberts & Co finish in the top two of their group, they will progress to the Semi-Finals where they could face any one of Germany, Netherlands and Finland.
