A former Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United midfielder, Kevin Nolan has been in charge of the Magpies since January 2017.

Key and notable players
Defender Matt Tootle was named Notts County’s Player of the Year this season, pipping experienced striker Jon Stead (pictured below) to the award.

Centre-back Richard Duffy is the Magpies club captain - he is out of contract this summer but has been offered a new deal, as has full-back Dan Jones. Other notable and important players contraced for 2018/19 include midfielder Liam Noble, defender Shaun Brisley and striker Lewis Alessandra.

Last season
Notts County ended the 2017/18 campaign in fifth place in the Sky Bet League Two table, securing a play-off berth. They picked up 77 points, scoring 71 goals and conceding only 48 times - both impressive totals.

The Magpies faced Coventry City in the Play-Off Semi Final and despite picking up a draw away from home, they were beaten 4-1 by the Sky Blues in the second leg.

Transfers
There have been no incomings to date at Meadow Lane but Player of the Year Matt Tootle has committed his future to the Nottinghamshire club by signing a new two-year deal. Striker Jon Stead will also remain with the Magpies next season after his contract was extended.

Defenders Richard Duffy and Dan Jones are among the out-of-contract players who have been offered fresh terms with Notts County. However, notable names such as Shola Ameobi, Jonathan Forte, Nicky Hunt and former Don Alan Smith will also depart once their deals expire in June.

Loanee Jorge Grant (pictured below), the team’s top goalscorer in 2017/18, has returned to parent club Nottingham Forest.
