Bid to win a match-worn George Williams shirt!

Defender is raising money for the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation...

22 May 2018

George Williams is auctioning off a match-worn MK Dons shirt, raising money for the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation.

All the proceeds raised from the defender’s shirt will go to the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation, which has been set up in memory of Daniel who died on the 12th September 2016, aged 24, playing the game he loved, from an underlying heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC).

ARVC is an inherited condition that causes the replacement of cardiac muscle with fibrous, fatty tissue, normally in the right side of the heart. This causes the walls in the heart chamber to become thin and stretched, impacting how the blood is pumped around the body and causing abnormal heart rhythms.

The condition can be found in one in every 2,000 – 5,000 adults, if it is looked for. It mainly affects young adults and has been the reason for some sudden unexplained deaths in young athletes.

The money raised for this Foundation will go towards providing screenings for footballers at grass roots level and to assist clubs in purchasing defibrillators and to provide training in CPR.

George Williams said: “Dan really was the most incredible person. Everyone who encountered him loved him and his memory will be a force for good as it will prevent further tragedies like this from happening.”
