Midfielder looks ahead to Saturday’s tie with Bristol Rovers...

After he picked up his tenth booking of the season, Ed Upson was forced to sit out on the stalemates with Rochdale and Fleetwood due to suspension.

The midfielder is once again available for selection heading into this weekend’s Sky Bet League One clash with Bristol Rovers and says there is only one thing on his mind – winning.

“We need to get three points now and that’s the most important thing,” Upson told iFollow MK Dons.

“The gaffer is implementing his style – of course, it would have been nicer if he’d have had a bit longer to do it, but we have had to rush into it and learn what he wants us to do.

“The defence is looking good, but we need to add goals.”

Despite sitting 22nd in the table, five points from safety, the cultured midfielder insists there is a ‘genuine belief’ within the squad that they will avoid relegation come the end of the season.

“There’s a belief, a genuine belief we will do it [avoid relegation], but we have to pick up the points. If we can start doing that, it will build a new confidence.

“When you're in this position, you have to play with confidence but that's a hard thing to do. That confidence only comes with winning games and that's what we need to do. It's the life of a footballer - there are more downs than ups but we need to get back to the highs for everyone.”

Upson concluded with a look ahead to Saturday’s clash as he states the Dons know the importance of their remaining fixtures.

Every game from now on will be the biggest game of the season because of the situation we're in. We have to look after ourselves and make sure we're prepared.
