What to look out for heading into Monday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers...

31 March 2018

mkdons.com details the storylines to follow ahead of Monday’s Sky Bet League One fixture at the Stadium MK.

Unbeaten Run
It's certainly been an enjoyable March for Dan Micciche and his MK Dons squad as they recorded wins over Rotherham, Bury and more recently Gillingham. There was also a draw against Blackpool during the month of March, meaning the Dons have now lost just once in their last seven Sky Bet League One fixtures.

Micciche has breathed life into the Dons relegation fight and heading into Monday's clash with Blackburn Rovers, the Dons currently sit 19th in the table with a two-point gap between them and the relegation zone.

Replacing Elliott Ward
The former West Ham defender has been an ever-present in the Dons defence since joining on loan from Blackburn in January. Due to the terms in his loan deal, Ward will be unavailable for the clash with his parent Club. His absence will need to be filled and with Ethan Ebanks-Landell impressing against Blackpool and off the bench against Gillingham he could be the man to fill the hole.

Other options include Ousseynou Cisse who has featured in defence a number of times this season, while Micciche could also opt to change formation. For Blackburn, former Dons defender Paul Downing will be hopeful of featuring against the side he departed in January.

Chuks Aneke
Having contributed towards five goals in his last four games, it's safe to say that Chuks Aneke is a man in form. The forward is enjoying a rich vein of form and will be looking to continue his dominance in games on Monday afternoon.

Aneke's goal against the Gills on Thursday evening took his tally for the season to 10 goals in all competitions – a number that leaves him as the current top goalscorer for MK Dons.

Hopefully, the Dons' number 10 can add to add to his tally against Blackburn Rovers.

Three valuable points
Monday's clash will be a big clash for both sides for different reasons. Blackburn Rovers are currently pushing for promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship, while the Dons are fighting for survival in the division. Rovers enter Monday's game unbeaten in their last eight games – winning six of those.

Dons, however, will be full of confidence after the recent turn around in form. They recently overcame high flyers Rotherham 3-2 with their performance that night perhaps their best of the season.
