MK Dons have made the following comment regarding today's Family Dons Day at Stadium MK...
"We are sorry that several attractions planned for today’s Family Day were cancelled at the last minute on health and safety grounds. This was due to the snow, which continued throughout the morning, and high winds, with strong gusts recorded in excess of 40mph.
"The Family Days are always special occasions in our year and so much hard work goes into the planning and organisation of these events by our staff, volunteers and attractions across Milton Keynes. We had arranged for several new activities for outside but the unseasonal weather beat us in the end.
"Some supporters have asked why the event could not take place inside Arena MK as in previous years. The Arena is now building its business to such an extent that it is now in regular use most weekends and it was in use today for a darts event. With regards to next weekend, we were conscious, when planning the calendar, that it is an international weekend with the potential for that game to be moved to an evening and there is also a provisional booking in place for our next Saturday home game.
"We were foiled today by unseasonal weather for mid-March but we hope that those who attended did enjoy the attractions that were able to take place - the live bands, the sensational Rock Choir, the reduced prices for this game and, of course, the three points.
"We are extremely grateful to those attractions that attended today, to the mascots from various organisations across Milton Keynes who put a lot of smiles on young faces and, not least, the supporters who braved the conditions to support the team in a crucial fixture - after subtracting the number of away fans from the crowd total, there was a season-high attendance in the home areas today.
"We hope that the many who attended today will return for another important match next Saturday against Blackpool."
