Sam Nombe was in action for Oxford City at the weekend but the in-form striker couldn’t prevent his side falling to a home defeat to the new Vanarama National League South leaders.
Nombe made his third-straight league start for the Hoops, who were beaten 1-0 by now top-of-the-table Havant & Waterlooville at Court Place Farm. The defeat was the Dons man’s first since joining City on loan.
He did go close to an equaliser at the start of the second half but his goal-bound effort was blocked brilliantly by a defender.
Oxford City remain 15th in the Vanarama National League South table, seven points clear of the relegation zone. They travel to play-off hopefuls Welling United next weekend.
