Brandon Thomas-Asante and Dele Alli may not have ever played together, but the MK Dons striker insists the now Tottenham midfielder has provided inspiration for his career.
Thomas-Asante was just 13-years-old when Dele made his MK Dons debut against Cambridge City and it was that day in November 2012 that kick started not only Dele’s career but gave Thomas-Asante some motivation too.
Speaking to iFollow MK Dons, the 19-year-old commended Dele’s impact on the Dons academy with the England man’s legacy still prominent among the next generation.
“Dele is a massive inspiration for not just myself, but the other lads coming through the academy.” Thomas-Asante told iFollow MK Dons.
“A lot of my coaches throughout the years have said to me that a week in football is a long time and Dele has been gone for about three years now.
“It’s all about hard work and he’s done that and he’s produced when the pressure has been on him – that’s a massive lesson for me.”
He added, “Seeing Dele in the World Cup team is really nice.”
