It’s fair to say, the last three years have been difficult for MK Dons - arguably the most testing period in the Club’s history.

The Dons have suffered two relegations in last three seasons and will play in the fourth tier of English football in 2018/19 for the first time since 2007.

New man Paul Tisdale, appointed as First-Team Manager last Wednesday, will be tasked with turning around the Club’s fortunes and chairman Pete Winkelman is confident he is the right man to bring the good times back to Milton Keynes.

“It’s horrible where we are and I feel for all our supporters, our staff and everyone affected by it," Winkelman said to iFollow MK Dons. "I can’t pretend that there is anything good about where we’ve ended up.

“But, this is the chance to start again and be fresh. It’s a chance for us to show our perseverance and tenacity - all the traits that we ask our footballers to show, I’ve got to show now, the Club has got to show now, and our supporters have got to show it too.

“We’ve got to get behind Paul and give him that opportunity to get our squad back to being competitive in the short-term, and in the longer-term get us back to being a challenging club in whatever division we are in.”

He concluded: “There is an awful lot of work to do and I’m not going into this season with the over-confidence that I’ve maybe had in the past because I know how real football is.

“When a team is used to losing, and unfortunately that’s us, you have to do some things about it and I think Paul’s first job is to fix that. This isn’t going to be some ‘click my fingers and here we go, isn’t it great and everything’s back on’ job, this is ‘the hard work starts now’.

“At the same time, I do feel we are in really good hands and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Paul can bring to this Football Club.”
