After almost eight weeks away from football, the MK Dons players have returned to Stadium MK to begin their pre-season training.
The players were put through a number of different tests and screenings on their first day back - and one of those in attendance was Dean Lewington.
Catching up with iFollow MK Dons, Lewington stated he was happy to return and also noted he’s returning in better shape than what he did last season.
“It’s nice to be back," he said. "Pre-season is always hard but it’s nice to be back and see all the boys again.
“Everyone has been all over the world on their holidays but they all look in good shape and they are refreshed and ready to go again."
Lewington continued: “I feel good. I had a nice break in the off-season and I managed to lose some weight. I feel in better shape than what I did last season - I feel fresh and ready to go again.”
Joining the first-team squad for their first training session were new signings Ryan Watson, Mitch Hancox,Lawson D’Ath and Jordan Moore-Taylor, while new professionals Liam Sole, Finn Tapp and David Kasumu were also put through their paces.
Lewington added that new faces will always help the mood of the camp and those who have signed on have already settled in well.
“The signings have come in and it’s nice to have a few new faces. A few new faces always helps with the optimism. The young boys have come in and given it that freshness too.
"They’ve all settled in pretty easily and everyone is making them feel welcome.”
Lewington concluded with a thank you to the MK Dons faithful who have stuck with the Club despite a testing time over the last 12 months.
“The fans are very faithful. They’ve stuck with us and didn’t turn on the team last year – they were there to support us.
"We are very lucky in that regard. Obviously with dropping down and starting again, I hope we can get the good times back here and repay the fans for sticking with us.”
