Brandon: Injury has taught me a lot

Thomas-Asante talks injury and rehabilitation...

1 June 2018

While the domestic football season has come to an end, Brandon Thomas-Asante has been working closely alongside the Club’s medical department has he looks to recover over the summer break.

Thomas-Asante featured 21 times for MK Dons last season but his campaign was unfortunately cut short due to injury.

Now, the striker is determined to return full fit and push on ahead of the 2018/19 season.

In an exclusive interview with iFollow MK Dons, the young striker said, “I really want to do as much as I can to help this Club get back to where we need to be, we really need to focus and get down to work when we get back in.

“I saw a fan yesterday and he was telling me that he’s renewed his season ticket and is ready to back us next season. The fans are so important to us and I just want to thank all of them because their backing is so important.

“We’ve all acknowledged the mistakes we’ve made in the past and we’re looking to really improve this season. We all know we’ve got a big mission to achieve and we’re ready to do that.”

The 19-year-old also provided an injury update and thanked the medical department for their hard work during the off season.

“The physio’s have been working with me almost every day so it’s really good and I’m feeling my ankle getting stronger - hopefully, I’ll be fully fit soon.

“The physio’s know that I’m a bit impatient and I’m probably the worst at being injured but they said to me don’t rush it because it can bug me for the rest of my career so it’s important I do the full recovery process.”

Thomas-Asante added, “I’ve been working on an Anti-Gravity Treadmill and it’s quite interesting to be fair, I’ve never been on one before but it’s all part of the experience to help me get back. I’ve learnt how important it is to deal with injuries and how to get back to full fitness - I think it’s good I’m learning how to deal with injuries.

“It was frustrating and I guess there never really is a good time to get injured but I’ve got to take it in my stride and when I get back do more than I did before.”
