A look ahead to MK Dons' pre-season opener at Willen Road...

6 July 2018

MK Dons begin their pre-season campaign this lunchtimewith a trip to Newport Pagnell Town.

Paul Tisdale's men have been back in training since the 28th June but return to match action for the first time today when they visit Willen Road. Kick-off is 12:30pm.

Newport Pagnell Town currently compete in the United Counties League Premier Division, a league they finished third in last season - three points off a promotion spot.

The Swans were unfortunately not to seal promotion out of the league having scored over 100 goals and accumulating a total of 90 points throughout the course of their 42 games.

Today's match will also be their first friendly of pre-season.

This will be the fourth time in six years that the two clubs have gone head-to-head in pre-season and it's the Dons who have been victorious in each of the past three occasions, winning 4-0 in 2013, 6-0 in 2015, and 4-1 in 2017.

Most recently, in 2017, a hat-trick from Giorgio Rasulo and a Sam Nombe header secured the win.

David Kasumu: "It'll be a good test - I want to get the minutes under my belt and perform well.

"Obviously, the running in pre-season gets you ready but you've got to do the business on the pitch and show the manager and his staff that you're ready to play in the league matches when the season starts."

With the first-team set to get their first run-out on Monday, MK Dons' side for this this afternoon's clash is likely to be made up of young professionals and Under-18s players, providing Paul Tisdale with the chance to have a first-look at his stars of the future.

Brandon Thomas-Asante, Sam Nombe and Oran Jackson are among those who will be involved along with recently-turned professionals Dylan Asaonganyi, David Kasumu, Liam Sole and Finn Tapp.

Confirmed MK Dons squad: Alfie Jones; Delsin Ackom, Finlay Brennan, Oran Jackson, Ollie Leach, Jamie Robinson, Matthew Sorinola, Jamal Sule, Finn Tapp; John Freeman, David Kasumu, Charlie Pattison, Jenson Wright; Dylan Asonganyi, Jay Bird, Recoe Martin, Sam Nombe, Liam Sole, Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Tickets are priced at £2 across the board. Entry can also be paid for at the turnstiles, cash only.
