Pawlett: Early signs are positive

Peter Pawlett pleased with start to life under Paul Tisdale...

2 July 2018

MK Dons may have only just returned for pre-season training but midfielder Peter Pawlett can already sense a positive vibe around Stadium MK.

Paul Tisdale’s side kick-started their preparations for the upcoming campaign last week, as they build up towards their Sky Bet League Two opener away at Oldham Athletic on Saturday 4th August.

MK Dons will be looking to bounce back this season after a disappointing last 12 months and midfielder Pawlett, entering his second season with the Football Club, says the early signs are positive.

“This is a fresh start for us all and there's a real lift about the boys,” the 27-year-old told the press. “It was disappointing last season but we've got to draw a line under it now, learn from it and move on - hopefully this season will be a lot more positive.

“We're only a couple of days in but the manager has come across really positively. We all look fresh and fit, so I hope pre-season goes well and we can start positively.”

On the team returning to winning ways this season, Pawlett said: “We'll need to dig deep and have more of a winning mentality. That was missing last season - we got stuck in a rut but hopefully we can start the season positively.”

Not only was the 2017/18 campaign a frustrating one in terms of results for Pawlett, the midfielder was also disappointed to be limited to just 28 appearances. The Hull-born man hopes a strong pre-season this summer will set him up well for the upcoming year.

“I’ve been telling myself how I need a good pre-season. “Last season was frustrating with injuries so hopefully a strong pre-season will set me up.

“I can't afford to miss big chunks of the season so I need to get my body robust and ready for the season.”
