Lee enjoying pre-season work

Nicholls on pre-season, Spain tour and Brackley defeat …

16 July 2018

It’s safe to say pre-season is well underway at Stadium MK, the first-team squad have been back for just over two weeks, they've played two pre-season games, and this week, are in Spain for a six-day training camp.

Paul Tisdale’s men continued their preparations for the upcoming Sky Bet League Two campaign on Friday night as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Brackley Town.

The 25-year-old feels that while it’s still pre-season - he’d still like to win games, “It’s quite important to pick up results in pre-season,” the keeper told iFollow MK Dons.

"I think it’s more about getting minutes but you always want to win as a footballer and as a professional. It’s tough because we trained prior to the game so it wasn’t our usual match prep – but you still want to win.

“Hopefully, we can kick on from this. I think it’s good preparation for the season because this will be similar to the type of teams we’ll come up against in Sky Bet League Two.”

There have seven signings through the door at Stadium MK this summer – and Nicholls admits the new faces are all settling in well ahead of this week’s training camp in Spain.

“The new lads have come in and they've done really well - we've tried to make them fit in. They've gelled well, so it will be good to get away with them. It will be hard, but we'll come back fitter both physically and mentally and as a group.

“You come in train in the morning and play in the evening- but it's what you have to do to get ready for the new season."

Nicholls added, “The mood is good, the players are together, the new players add more to the group - I cannot wait to get going and I think we're going to have a good season.

“It has been good, working with Mel Gwinnett and Paul Heald has been good, it has been good to have two different ideas and two people trying to improve you. It has been hard, as pre-season should be.”
