After achieving promotion in the most emphatic of styles and securing a League and Cup double in the process – spirits are high within MK Dons Ladies FC.

Now, the Ladies will return to pre-season with an extra spring in their step after news broke this week that their home fixtures will be played at Stadium MK for the 2018-19 campaign.

Manager James Honeyman believes the move is a huge step forward not just for the Club but for the Women’s game in general and feels it could provide a platform for others to replicate.

“Everyone within the Ladies set-up is absolutely delighted and I think it shows how much the Club are supporting us to give us the use of this fantastic stadium for all our home games. When we played in it last year we loved every minute of it and to be able to do it again each week is a novelty that I don’t think will wear off.

“We can’t thank Pete Winkelman and the Club enough – they’ve supported us throughout the run in last season and moved four of our home matches to the Stadium to support us.

“Now, to make us go here every single week is a huge step within the sport, no other Club is doing it and there isn’t enough Club’s doing it. That shows how much faith and support he’s given to us.”

The Ladies manager added, “I think it’s a massive statement a huge step forward, a step that some other Clubs could look at possible doing.

“Of course, there are some logistical stuff that needs to be done and it will take a lot of support and volunteers to help us get this moving but it’s possible at any Club and I think it’s a great step forward – hopefully, it’ll be the platform for others to follow suit.”

Honeyman concluded with a thank you to Newport Pagnell Town FC for their incredible hospitality over the years and believes his squad are currently as united as ever.

“Newport Pagnell have been great for us, they’ve been absolutely fantastic and have given us a platform to build off.

“The Ladies were ecstatic when we told them about the news, they know how much of an amazing venue this place is, they love playing here – it’s a real blessing.

“The ladies are good and working hard we know we are going up into a bigger challenge, every week in pre-season we see the confidence grow. You can see the squad starting to come together and their united nature that got us promoted is clear to see.”
