French descent
Mathieu Baurdy becomes the latest Frenchman to represent MK Dons, and the first since a certain Mathias-Kouo-Doumbe – who departed Stadium MK in 2013.
Born in the Northern City of Le Havre, the 30-year-old becomes the seventh Frenchman to wear the Dons colours following in the footsteps on Willy Gueret, Flavien Belson, Julien Hornus, Harry Ntimban-Zeh and Laurent Herve.
Promotion experience
Baurdy arrives at MK1 with a couple of promotions already on his CV. His first came in 2010 when he was part of the Troyes side that earned promotion from the Championnat National into Ligue 2.
More recently, in 2017, the Frenchman helped Doncaster Rovers return to Sky Bet League One at the first time of asking - that season he featured 31 times scoring five goals.
Goals and assists
Talking of goals, the 30-year-old certainly has a habit of scoring and providing them from the back.
He’s found the net 17 times during his time in England – seven of which came come in Sky Bet League Two.
He’s also got a habit of turning provider on the odd occasion having tacked up a total of 11 assists throughout his career – for a central defender it’s certainly an impressive number.
His highest goal tally came in 2017 when he netted five goals and one assist.
French groundings
Spending the formative years with French side La Harve FC – Baurdy has progressed through one of French Football’s most notorious academy systems.
Perhaps most famous for producing World Cup winner Paul Pogba, ‘Le Club Doyen’ have also played a part in developing Lassana Diarra, Steve Mandanda, Dimitri Payet, and Benjamin Mendy.
