Dylan thankful for support from Walsh and Gilbey

Striker praises support of duo after comeback goal…

12 July 2018

Having spent the best part of eight months out injured, Dylan Asonganyi has praised the support and guidance of both Joe Walsh and Alex Gilbey throughout his spell on the sidelines.

The young forward suffered a knee injury in the back end of 2017, and as a result, missed the remainder of the season.

Asonganyi was joined in the treatment room by senior professionals Alex Gilbey and Joe Walsh – two people the 18-year-old credits with helping him through the testing time.

“Joe Walsh and Alex Gilbey have been kind of like my older brothers," Dylan revealed to iFollow MK Dons.

“They’ve helped me out in the offseason when things got hard and sometimes, when I felt like I couldn’t do this, they told me to keep going – I’m just happy that we are all celebrating together.”

Asonganyi also sent a message of thanks to the Sports Science and Medical Department for their continued support.

“Simon [Crampton] and Adam [Ross] have both helped me massively. There were days when I think I thought I couldn’t continue, but they told me I’m doing well and kept pushing me - it’s all paid off.”

Dylan marked his return to first-team action with a stunning goal from 30-yards against St. Neots Town - one that showed his confidence is still sky high.

Describing the goal, he said, “The ball came down to me, I’ve got to thank Liam [Sole] got getting the second ball – then I heard people shouting shoot.

“I’m always that guy to try things and I’m happy it came off and see it go into the back of the net.

“Pre-season has been tough but the off-season helped because it was a lot of running. I think it’s got me used to the running and I think fitting in well with the squad."
