Scott Wootton returned to the MK Dons starting XI for the Emirates FA Cup success over Queens Park Rangers and the defender is aware that the Dons now need to maintain that level of performance in order to climb the Sky Bet League One table.
Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's clash with AFC Wimbledon, Wootton said, “We’ve got the put in that quality of performance [against QPR] week in, week out.
“I’m sure if we do, we’ll start to climb the table – consistency is the key for us.”
Despite being six months into the season, Robbie Neilson’s side still have 20 Sky Bet League One fixtures left and Wootton is aware just how much football is still to be played.
“We’ve still got loads and loads of games to come. George Williams, when he was at Barnsley - they got promoted despite being bottom on Christmas Day so everything is possible.
“One thing is for sure, we need to start being consistent and start putting wins together.”
Wootton concluded his concluded his interview with a look ahead to this weekend's fixture - one the whole side wants to win for the fans.
“We know how much this game means to the fans. Of course, we try hard to win every single game but it’ll be great to win this one for the fans and put a smile on their faces.
“The rivalry is there for everyone to see, but the positions in the league table make it a little bit bigger. Once you get onto the pitch it’s 11 players v 11 players, the atmosphere is, of course, better and the players thrive in that sort of atmosphere.”
