What we learnt: Robbie’s Queens Park Rangers presser

The key talking points from Robbie Neilson’s press conference ahead of the trip to Loftus Road...

5 January 2018

After being labelled the favourites against both Hyde United and Maidstone United, Robbie Neilson’s side enter the Third Round Emirates FA Cup clash with Queens Park Rangers as the underdogs – a tag that isn’t fazing the Scot.

“We see it as an opportunity to go and impose ourselves on the game," Neilson said in his pre-match press conference. "We’re going there to attack – we won’t sit in.

“We want to put on a good performance and I think it’s important that the fans that come down will see that. We want to take the positivity we had in the win over Peterborough and continue that through.

“We want to attract as many fans down to Loftus Road as possible so they can enjoy an entertaining game against a good team – I’m really looking forward to it”

Here is what else Neilson had to say in his pre-match press conference...

Injuries and suspensions...

“Aidan [Nesbitt] trained the last few days and we expect him to be involved in the squad on Saturday - we’re pleased to get him back. Callum [Brittain] also trained this week and we’re hoping he’ll also be part of the squad this weekend.

“We appealed Osman Sow’s red card because we felt it was very harsh but we failed – that was disappointing. It’ll be good to welcome Joe Walsh back though and he’ll come into the squad for Saturday.”

Transfer update...

We need to move a couple in. We need some more firepower as we haven’t been scoring the goals we want to score and at the other end we need to make sure we stop conceding goals but that’s something we can work and improve upon. The focus at this moment in time is scoring more goals.”

On previous success at Loftus Road...

“I’ve heard about the [the 4-2 win over QPR] but that was in the past and we need to go create our own history and put a good performance on. We are all really looking forward to it as it’s an opportunity to express ourselves.”
