What to look out for ahead of Saturday’s clash…

24 January 2018

mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into this Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup fixture at Stadium MK.

Dan’s Debut

This weekend will be Dan Micciche’s first game in charge of Milton Keynes Dons, the 38-year-old was announced as the Club's new manager on Tuesday morning and will be looking to get off to a winning start against Coventry City.

Alongside Micciche on the touchline will be Keith Millen who was appointed Assistant Manager as part of the new management team. Millen will bring plenty of experience to the Club having occupied the same position alongside Alan Pardew, Neil Warnock and Tony Pulis during his time at Crystal Palace.

The duo will be eager to get their reign off to a winning start come Saturday.

Fifth Round for the Second Time

A win on Saturday would see the Dons progress into the Fifth Round of the Emirates FA Cup for the second time in the Club’s history.

Back in the 2012-13 edition of the competition, the men from MK1 overcame Queens Park Rangers at the Fourth Round stage to set up a tie with Barnsley in Round Five. A Chris Dagnall brace and Marlon Harewood’s goal ultimately eliminated Dons from the competition.

After wins against Hyde United, Maidstone United and Queens Park Rangers in the cup this season, Micciche’s side has the chance continue their Emirates FA Cup run this weekend.

Dean is back

While Micciche and Millen were announced as Manager and Assistant Manager respectively this week - Dean Lewington was also named as player-coach at Stadium MK.

Lewington’s new position will allow him to gain valuable coaching experience while also maintaining his playing duties. Lewington last featured for the Dons in November and will, without doubt, receive a warm welcome should he take to the field this weekend.

Stadium MK will be rocking this weekend with a large crowd expected to turn out for the Emirates FA Cup clash with Coventry City.
