All you need to know ahead of today's Emirates FA Cup clash...

27 January 2018

mkdons.com previews today's Emirates FA Cup fixture against Coventry City at Stadium MK.

It's certainly been a busy week at Stadium MK! After last weekend's 2-1 defeat against Northampton Town, Robbie Neilson and the Dons agreed to go their separate ways while Stevie Crawford and Neal Macfarlane also departed the Club.

On Tuesday morning, it was confirmed that Dan Micciche would be the man to take the Dons forward along with the experienced Keith Millen, appointed as Assistant Manager.

The duo will be hoping to get off to a winning start this afternoon against Coventry City and secure the Dons' place in the Fifth Round for only the second time in the Club's history.

The men from MK1 have been one of the best-performing sides in this season's competition, having scored nine goals and conceded just once.

Kick-off is at 3pm.

Coventry City currently sit in sixth place in the Sky Bet League Two table, just two points off an automatic promotion spot. The Sky Blues have enjoyed a strong Emirates FA Cup run too having seen off Maidenhead United and Boreham Wood before causing one of the upsets of the season - beating Stoke City 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

Robins was appointed Coventry boss for the second time in March 2017 and would lead his side to the Checkatrade Trophy Final where they overcame Oxford United 2-1 to lift the trophy.

He boosted his side with the likes of Jack Grimmer, Marc McNulty, Liam Kelly and Rod McDonald who have all become integral to their promotion push.

MK Dons were beaten 2-1 by Northampton Town on a disappointing afternoon at Sixfields Stadium.

Alex Gilbey was on target for the Dons but goals either side of his strike from John-Joe O’Toole and Chris Long saw the side leave empty-handed.

Coventry City defeated Swindon Town 3-1 at the Ricoh Arena last weekend thanks to a stunner from Max Biamou and a brace from Marc McNulty.

Mark Robins' side were two up after 25 minutes - Biamou blasted City ahead from range before McNulty won and converted a penalty five minutes later.

Oliver Banks pulled one back for Swindon before the break, but McNulty secured the win with ten minutes to go.

The Dons will be without Chuks Aneke, who will serve the first game of his three-match suspension following his sending off at Northampton Town.

Micciche welcomes Dean Lewington back to the squad but Joe Walsh remains sidelined for an extended period.

Peter Bankes will be the man in the middle today – the first time he's overseen the Dons this season.

The official last took charge of the men from MK1 during their 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers in August 2017 - that day he issued seven yellow cards.

In total this season, Mr Bankes has issued 91 yellow cards and six reds - five of which have come in his last five games.

His assistant referees are Dan Cook and Duncan Street while the fourth official is John Busby.
