After completing his loan move to Stadium MK, Marcus Tavernier revealed how three former Milton Keynes Dons players played their part in the move.

Marcus won’t be the first footballer to represent the Tavernier family at Stadium MK, his older brother James enjoyed a similar loan spell back in 2012.

The 18-year-old didn’t just receive positive reviews from his brother though, as both Patrick Bamford and Lewis Baker also spoke highly of the club to Tavernier.

“My brother used to play here so I know a bit about the Club – he actually advised me to come down here.

“Both Patrick Bamford and Lewis Baker also told me to come to MK Dons – they all said it’s a great club with a great set up.”

He added, “MK Dons are known for brining players though, especially young ones – hopefully I can be another one of them.

The Middlesbrough loanee won’t have to wait long for a potential debut as this coming Saturday Neilson’s side make the short journey to Northampton Town – a fixture Tavernier is relishing.

“I just can’t wait to get going, my focus is to play first-team football, get three points this weekend and kick on from there.

“I’ve got to know the lads and they seem like a great bunch – I’m looking forward to playing with them.”
