What we learnt: Dan’s Charlton presser

The boss discusses a number of areas ahead of Saturday's clash...

Dan Micciche hopes to reward the ever-loyal MK Dons supporters with three points this weekend.

The Dons play host to Charlton Athletic on Saturday, looking to return to winning ways at Stadium MK and begin their climb up the Sky Bet League One table.

Micciche knows the Dons faithful will play an important role in any revival and hopes to repay them for their recent support this weekend.

“The fans have a massive role to play,” the Dons boss said in his pre-match press conference. “We owe them a big performance on Saturday, we owe them three points.

“We’re playing for them on Saturday. They have stuck by us. Hopefully, we can reward them with three points.”

He added: “Our club is unique because at a lot of clubs, they'll forgive you if they see hard work – at this Club, that’s not enough.  The fans want to see good football, a team that's well coached and has a plan. I think they've seen that in the few weeks we've been here.”

Here’s what else Micciche had to say in his pre-match press conference...

On Alex Gilbey’s injury...

“We're devastated for Alex. In the time I've been here, he has been a fantastic leader both on and off the pitch. He’s going to get great medical treatment here and he'll be here on Saturday cheering us on.”

On using the positives...

“We have to focus on the positives. In the four games we've had, there’s not been a lot in it. If you look at the Portsmouth game, in particular, the football was outstanding. Portsmouth are a side in the top 10 and we opened them up at will. We know we're capable of beating anyone in this league. The league table doesn't show that at the moment, but I'm confident we can string the results together. When you're getting performances, you have belief and confidence. The players will get coached individually and collectively and if we do that, stick to our process, we know we will be fine.”

On scoring more goals...

“I back our front players and it's only a matter of time before they start putting them away. We're creating chances and I think it's positive from that point of view.”

On other injury concerns...

“We've got to look at Osman [Sow] and a few of the others. Same with Chuks. We'll know after that.”

On Karl Robinson...

“We've got a very good relationship. We have kept in touch, even when I left the Club. We spoke regularly and he was one of the first people to phone me when I got the job. I've got a lot of respect for him – to become a manager at 28 is no mean feat and his record speaks for itself. I know what his team are capable of and how he'll prepare and I'm looking forward to coming up against him.”
