What to look out for ahead of Saturday’s clash…

1 February 2018

mkdons.com details the storylines to follow ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture at the Bescot Stadium.

Dan’s first Sky Bet League One game

Dan Micciche took charge of a professional game of football for the first time in his career last weekend as Milton Keynes Dons faced on Coventry City in the Emirates FA Cup.

Unfortunately, the Dons were eliminated from the Emirates FA Cup, however, come 3pm Saturday at the Bescot Stadium - Micciche will be taking charge of his first Sky Bet League One clash as the Dons face Walsall.

The fixture with The Saddlers is a poignant one in the history of MK Dons as Karl Robinson also took charge of his first league fixture against the same opposition back in August 2010.

Debut’s in defence

On Tuesday 30th January, Micciche added depth to his defence with the signings of Josh Tymon and Elliot Ward respectively.

Tymon, 18, joins from Stoke City on loan until the end of the season. Having started his career with Hull City, the defender moved to Stoke City in the summer of 2017. Tymon has played eight Premier League games for the Tigers and the Potters combined - including six starts. He’ll come with no fear after featuring against Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham United already this season.

Ward will also stay at Stadium MK until the end of the season as he joins on loan from Blackburn Rovers. At 33, the defender has bags of experience within the EFL and Premier League.

The duo will be hoping to make an impact during their time at MK1 - starting this Saturday.

6 Pointer

It’s safe to say that this weekend’s clash against Walsall could perhaps be pitched as one of the most important games this season.

Jon Whitney’s side currently sit in 18th place, just three points above the last relegation spot - currently occupied by the Dons. A win for Micciche’s side could see them climb out the relegation zone, should results go their way.
