Striker makes impact off the bench in Russia win...

22 February 2018

James Holmes came off the bench to help Wales Under-16s secure a victory over Russia in their second UEFA Development Tournament fixture.

The MK Dons striker, who started Wales’ opening match in Greece, entered the contest at half-time and went close to making an immediate impact – hitting the post with a left-footed effort.

He almost provided the opener for Wales in the 49th minute but his low ball across the penalty area wasn’t converted home by a teammate.

Rob Page’s side grabbed the decisive goal eight minutes later – Jamie Will Rickard the goalscorer.

Holmes & Co face Slovakia on Friday in their final match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, MK Dons Under-14s starlet Ryan Holmes has completed his Regional Development training camp for South Wales.

The forward, younger brother of James Holmes, spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.
